Pothos care suits anyone who wants a fast, forgiving vine—if you know the node and avoid a swamp or a closet. Heart-shaped leaves droop when thirsty and usually perk up within hours of a drink.
Light and Variegation
Dark-green pothos handles shade better than neon variegation. If gold leaves turn solid green, the plant is making extra chlorophyll. Move it into brighter indirect light; see the light guide. For a very dark hallway, low light houseplants are steadier.
Watering
Water when the surface is dry. Pothos likes more moisture than a snake plant but still rots if left soggy. Soft yellow lower leaves mean check the mix. General method: watering.
Soil, Pole, or Hang
A light perlite mix suits aerial roots. Hang it or train it on a moss pole for larger leaves. Repot when roots exit the holes: repotting.
Propagate at the Node
Every cutting needs at least one node. Change the water and move to soil when roots are still short. Full steps: water propagation. Several cuttings in one pot plus pruning above a node (see pruning) make a bushier plant.
Pests and Pets
Mealybugs love dense pothos. Check undersides weekly: pests. Toxic to cats and dogs; see pet-safe plants. Log pothos in Jaliz so watering tracks the season.
