Flowering houseplants are for people with bright medium light and a steady watering rhythm. They are not the same as beginner hardies and they do not replace low light office plants.
Peace Lily
Keep the mix evenly moist, not swampy. No blooms usually means weak light or too much nitrogen. Dramatic droop from thirst recovers after water; do not confuse it with rot. It is not for chewing pets: pet-safe plants.
African Violet
Bright indirect light, bottom watering so the crown stays dry, and no mist on fuzzy leaves. Raise air humidity with the humidity guide, not wet foliage. Treat surface mold separately: white mold.
Anthurium
Filtered bright light and a chunky aroid mix. Blooms follow light and balanced feed, not bloom fertilizer on suffocating roots. If leaves yellow, start with yellow leaves and watering.
Feed and Expectations
Dilute balanced fertilizer in the growing season; excess nitrogen makes leaves and delays flowers. See fertilizing. In Jaliz log these on a shorter watering gap than snake plant.
Should You Cut Spent Blooms?
Cut a brown peace-lily spathe at the base of the flower stalk. Twist spent African violet blooms off the pedicel without tearing healthy leaves. Remove a faded anthurium spathe the same way; a green spathe is not always disease—it can be low light.
Why Buds Drop
Sudden moves, AC drafts, and dry air drop buds. After you bring a plant home, leave it in one spot for a week. If buds form and fall before opening, fix humidity and temperature before adding bloom fertilizer.
